Web Site Privacy Policy

Oak Ridge Federal Credit Union is committed to insure that all member related information that is processed by our web site and Home Banking service is protected and secure. Therefore, we have developed the following privacy policy addressing your needs. All personal and financial information specific to you that you provide to the Credit Union through any channel constitutes personal information.

This page is provided for informational purposes only.

Web Site Collection Information

Oak Ridge Federal Credit Union collects and stores information on the domain you use to access its website, and the date and time of your visit to our site.

This information is used to measure the number of visitors to the various pages on the site, to help Oak Ridge Federal Credit Union make improvements to the information contained on the site, and to better serve our members through special marketing and service programs.

Internet Teller

Internet security is a primary concern for anyone using the Internet today, and particularly for Internet financial transactions. A site is considered secure if all sensitive information that is transmitted between the user's browser and the site's web server is encrypted (scrambled so that someone looking at the data cannot read it). At Oak Ridge Federal Credit Union, the Home Banking pages you visit within the Home Banking Server will be encrypted but the other pages within orfcu.org are not, as they do not contain any sensitive information.

Oak Ridge Federal Credit Union has taken the necessary steps to ensure that your data is protected, including access codes, encryption and a firewall. Access Codes (Your PIN and Password) are used to gain initial access to your account. Encryption disguises information to hide its meaning and enhances confidentiality by restricting access to only intended users. Information is encrypted and decrypted with a cipher and key using specialized computer hardware or software. Our firewall enhances security by monitoring and limiting access to computer devices. It creates a security barrier between the Internet and our network to protect Oak Ridge Federal Credit Union’s computer system from unauthorized entry.

Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) establishes a secure connection between two parties (e.g., your browser and our web server). It is used to implement HTTPS, the secure version of HTTP, and is an open technology supported across various browsers (e.g., Netscape Navigator, Microsoft Internet Explorer). Oak Ridge Federal Credit Union requires that you use an SSL-enabled browser to communicate with the secured area of our site. You know you are visiting the secure area of our site when the URL begins with "https://...".

E-Mail

Personal information contained in e-mail sent by members and non-members may be used by Oak Ridge Federal Credit Union staff to answer questions, to follow up on suggestions or complaints, or to improve the level of service Oak Ridge Federal Credit Union provides. Please be advised that e-mail may not be secure against interception by unauthorized individuals. Therefore, if you wish to communicate sensitive or personal information, you may want to send it by postal mail.

Cookies

Oak Ridge Federal Credit Union currently uses cookies only in conjunction with Home Banking to store temporary information. We do not link the information we receive from cookies with any other information, such as your name or address. We set these cookies when you enter the site and erase them when you leave the site.

Distribution of Member Information

We will not disclose information to third parties (excluding credit union affiliates) concerning your account with us, except: (a) when such disclosure is necessary to complete the transactions; (b) to verify the existence and condition of your account for a third party (such as a credit bureau) as is permitted by law; (c) to comply with any court order or applicable laws or regulations; or (d) when you give us your written permission.

The credit union does not and will not sell or provide personal information to third parties for independent use. We may; however, share personal information with our credit union affiliates, as allowed by federal law, if that information is required to provide a product or service you have requested.
